An intimate luxury English Country House Hotel on the banks of the River Frome offering peace and tranquillity in a quintessential English setting with traditional personal service and home from home comforts.

Tucked away in a quiet corner with stunning riverside and country views this charming independently owned 16th century hotel offers a very special and timeless experience. The elegant but comfortable Drawing Room is furnished with antique sofas and chairs, a grand piano, highly polished brasses and original oil paintings.  There are beams; a stone fireplace with an open log fire; original shutters with windows and French doors overlooking the beautiful gardens and river.  Pre dinner drinks and home-made canapés can be enjoyed in the Drawing Room and the charming cosy Cloisters Cocktail Bar or on a fine summers day, on the sun dappled terrace overlooking the river.

Sophisticated candlelit dinners and Sunday lunch are served in the atmospheric Abbots Cellar.    Here, in an undercroft with natural light, there is lots of character with exposed stone walls, beams, comfy upholstered dining chairs and fine linen providing a truly romantic setting. Lunch is normally served in the pretty Garden Room classically furnished with fine stone mullion windows overlooking the gardens and river.   During fine summer days the alfresco terrace is laid out with umbrellas for shade and linen covered tables overlooking the river providing a sophisticated alfresco option.   Private dining can also be arranged in The Garden Room or in a location in the gardens and exclusive use of the hotel is possible for larger events.

The 18 luxury en-suite bedrooms are all individually and tastefully styled with their own charm. You will find rich designer fabrics - Mulberry chenille’s, Varanasi silks, Lewis and Wood Toile-du-Jouys and Nina Campbell palettes sprinkled with antiques. The luxurious and immaculate high-end en-suites are filled with soft fluffy towels and robes and Molton Brown toiletries to make you feel at home. Choose from beautifully interior designed en-suite bedrooms of all sizes in the main house or suites and spacious bedrooms with sumptuous en-suite bathrooms fitted with Jacuzzi baths and private terraces or balconies in The Boathouse, a sympathetically converted 16th century clay barn on the riverbank.

The four acres of cottage gardens are beautifully tended and include a croquet lawn and private lake as well as river frontage with moorings for guests arriving by boat. Garden furniture is unobtrusively sprinkled around the grounds providing you with lots of quiet areas to relax and maybe read a book or simply watch the yachts and boats meandering up and down the River Frome.

The Priory is located in a beautiful part of Dorset surrounded by the coast and countryside of Enid Blyton and Thomas Hardy with Studland Bay, Lulworth Cove and the shores of Sandbanks and Poole Harbour close by. The town walls of the ancient town of Wareham date back to the 9th century with over 200 of it’s buildings listed as being of architectural interest. Nearby are the ruins of historic Corfe Castle with numerous National Trust Properties together with the 95 mile World Heritage Jurassic Coast and coastal path.
